Tuesday, December 2, 3-6 pm Aula 40 – Conservatorio G.Verdi di Torino Workshop by Tomoko Sauvage. Tomoko Sauvage’s work focuses on a delicate balance between control and openness to chance, to the accidental percussion of drops, to the acoustic characteristics of space and to the fragile tonalities created from fluid and ephemeral materials, in a process of constant movement and dissolution. The artist works with bowls and porcelain containers of different sizes, filled with water and amplified with hydrophones. Her research stems from water in its different forms – drops, waves and bubbles – from the resonances of the containers, as well as from audio feedback, giving rise to textures of drones and natural harmonics. During the workshop Tomoko Sauvage will illustrate her most recent projects with insights into the concept of electroacoustics in her work, finally introducing the concert on December 3 at the Superbudda space (Via Valprato 68, 9pm) in collaboration with the collective CoMET (Collettivo Musica Elettroacustica Torino). Tomoko Sauvage, Japanese musician and sound artist based in Paris, has created performances, exhibitions and workshops in Europe, the United States, Canada and Japan. Her most recent works include long duration performances at the Centre Pompidou in Metz and at the Borderline Festival in Athens, and installations at the TÖNE festival in Chatman and at the City Sonic Park in Progress in Mons. In addition to her solo research, Tomoko has collaborated with musicians and choreographers including Frédéric Nogray, Nicolas Lelièvre and Brigitte Chataignier. Her works have been published by e/OAR (USA), Aposiopèse (Belgium), Editions Eokidoki (France). In 2011, she created a new series of porcelain bowls during her residency at La Pommerie (France) in collaboration with Ceramic Research Center of Limoges (CRAFT). Tomoko Sauvage uses H2a-XLR Aquarian Audio hydrophones.
