The workshop, led by Andrea Valle and Silvio Alovisio, aims to provide a basic understanding of the issue of the relationship between silent cinema and soundtracking. A first part of historical-theoretical introduction will be followed by a second one which will be more dedicated to the exemplification of real cases and possible strategies in practical ways, together with practical experimentation on the construction of a soundtrack.

At the end of the workshop, students should have acquired knowledge and comprehension skills related to the relationship between image and sound in silent cinema.
