Embodied sketching for sound design

The workshop introduces participants to methods and practices for the creation of sound sketches in the initial phases of the sound project.
The sketches are by their nature incomplete and ambiguous representations. They act as sound impressions for the purpose of generating, fixing, comparing, selecting and communicating ideas and concepts.
In particular, the voice and gesture are effective tools available to the sound designer for the rapid production of sound ideas.

Through examples, demonstrations and preparatory activities, the participants will challenge themselves in the practice of vocal sketching.
The first of the two days of laboratory is aimed at developing analytical skills and exercises of creation and communication of sound sketches.
On the second day, the participants, divided into working groups, will face the development of a real project brief, with the support of software tools for sound synthesis guided by the voice.
